THIRD TIME LUCKY: Jeeva is acting with Mohanlal in `Kirti Chakra.'
He had a point to prove after his first two films failed to create much of an impact at the box office. And Jeeva did it with a stunning performance in `Raam.'
His portrayal of the role of an autistic young student who is indicted for the brutal murder of his mother in `Raam' announced the arrival of a fine actor. Things have been happening for the youngster ever since.
As son of producer R.B. Chaudhary of Super Good films, he has grown up seeing a lot of actors give their best in front of the camera.
Learning experience
He started his stint as an actor with `Aasai Aasaiyai' and followed it with `Thiththikkudhae.' But it was his third film, `Raam,' that won him accolades. His performance won him an international award at a film festival in Cyprus.
"The film `Raam' was a great learning experience. I had put in a lot of hard work for the film. We travelled a lot for the film's shooting and took around two years to complete the film," he recalls. Jeeva agrees that he took some time to mould himself for the role in `Raam.'
"We had to rehearse a lot. I am thankful to the director, Ameer, who took great pains to shape the film."
`Dishyum,' which followed `Raam,' had him playing a stuntman.
"It is heartening that the film did well at the box office and the songs are rocking."
Debut in Malayalam films
Now Jeeva is acting with Mohanlal, whom he regards as one of the finest actors in the country, in Major Ravi's `Kirti Chakra.' He is playing havaldar Jai Kumar, who is close to Major Mahadevan, Mohanlal's character in the film.
"We shot in Kashmir for more than 20 days. It was quite an experience in that hyper sensitive area. There were restrictions at times on account of security reasons. But the director, who served as a commando in the area, knew the place well and that helped a lot."
Jeeva believes that the film will help him impress viewers in Kerala. "In fact, I was surprised when I was recognised by many while we were shooting for `Kirti Chakra' in Ottappalam," he says with a smile.
His forthcoming films include `E,' which incidentally is the short form of Eswaran, his character in the film. Nayanatara plays his heroine in it. `Porri,' meaning spark, will feature Pooja as his heroine.
"In `E', I play a local crook from the slum and my character in `Porri' has a fair share of action, comedy and romance."
Jeeva has competition brewing at home with brother Ramesh joining the bandwagon as a hero.
