Music Programme

Sweta Prasad from Hyderabad, disciple of Shobha Raju presented Annamacharya kritis earlier this week at the India International Centre.

She was accompanied by Sneha (violin) and I.V. Renuka Prasad (mridangam).

Nomination

The film "A Green Agony" directed by Geeta Singh, on the impact of climate change on the Sundarbans coastal zone has been nominated for the Panda Award 2006. The film has been nominated in the category of films from developing countries and is one of four nominations from India. The other three films are "Cherub of the Mist", "Wild Dog Diaries" and "My Friend, the Goldfinch". The awards will be declared in October.

Theatre Activity

The India International Centre, in collaboration with Hungry Heart Theatre Festival, mounted director Sohaila Kapur's "Jailbirds" this past Wednesday.
