Celebration of Indian couture
A fascinating fashion accessories exhibition opens today (July 28) at C. P. Art Centre (Mini Hall, 1 Eldams Road, Alwarpet).
Presented by Dakshinachitra, the `Bags and Stoles' has variety and colour. For daytime elegance and evening dazzle, the collection has a range from muted hues to jewel tones, from silk and textured cottons to Pashmina. It is a celebration of Indian couture.
Whether it is kalamkari, `khadi' and block prints or kantha, lambani and kutchchi embroidery, each of the bags and stoles has a unique individuality. On view are finely made bags embellished with kalamkari work, kutchchi or lambani embroidery, patchwork or appliqué work. The formats vary from smart to casual, glitzy to travel bags, mobile cases and so on.
The stoles are brilliantly conceptualised. From golden ikat to ones with mellow kalamkari work. There are sheer net stoles apart from block prints, patchwork, applique or embroidered ones all making a fashion statement. The exhibition is on till July 30.
