DIFFERENT STROKES: A work with water colour and ink pen.
For self-taught artist Girish Kumar, painting is a way of handling the ups and downs of life. Unfettered by schools of thought or ideology, Girish's paintings have a life of their own as they map the landscapes of the mind.
Aptly named `Mindscape,' his latest collection will be displayed at Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram from August 13 to 17.
Dark patterns
Complex and obscure dark patterns are predominant in his latest work. Swirls of paints, sometimes outlined by fine lines, create a bewildering world that is strangely familiar to us. The works have a depth that hints at the cavernous folds of the mind that often enmesh us in its spaces. Girish's use of colours creates the mood of the paintings.
According to Girish, `Mindscapes' is an introspection to find out the interactive spaces between life and death.
