Actors lived their roles in `Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddham' staged here recently.

PLAY TIME A scene from Ramanjaneya Yuddham-pouranik drama

The 145th monthly schedule of the noted dramatic association Sri Sai Kalaaniketan featured Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddham. Scripted by Badreddy Koteswara Rao, coordinated by S. Rajaratnam and Chowdary Appa Rao, Sri Udayabhanu Kalaa Samithi of Rajam presented it.

It depicted the story of the emergence of the most unimaginable situation of a do or die fight between Lord Rama and his most ardent devotee Anjaneya for the sake of King Yayathi.

Yayathi sets out on a hunting expedition. He stops for a while at Vasishtasram, which he comes across first, to pay obeisance to the Marashi, and then to Viswamitra who lives a little away on his way to the woods. Viswamitra thinks that he is purposefully insulted by Yayathi, by visiting Vasishta first. He approaches his disciple Lord Rama for solace.

Rama, quite unconcerned to know what exactly happened, vows to kill the person who offended his guru. Advised by Narada, Yayathi, without revealing the actual story, successfully gets the sanction of protecting his life by Anjaneya. After a fierce battle in the process between Rama and his own devotee, everybody including Viswamitra realise it to be all a providential creation to establish the supremacy of the strength of devotion even over the supreme who is being meditated upon with unwavering faith by his devotee.

While many a time winners of the best actor awards, M. Siva Ramulu Naidu, T. Narasimha Naidu and Bhashapraveena B.A. Dora lived the roles of Srirama, Anjaneya and Yayathi, R. Jagdish as Narada, P.Appala Narasimham as Lakshmana, D.N. Naidu as Bharatha, S. Subba Rao as Satrughna and M. Eswara Rao as Viswamitra as well came out with creditable performances.

Amarapu Krishnamurthy on harmonium and K. Balakrishna on tabla lent excellent support. Krishna Drama Dress Co. Ltd., of Rajam, D. Jagga Rao, B. Vijayasaradhi, B. Vijayasai, N. Simhadri and R. Koteswara Rao shared the credits for make-up, stage-decor, lighting etc.

Earlier in the evening B.A. Dora was felicitated at a function with the Hon. president of the Niketan Ganta Appala Naidu in the chair.

Secretary, BVA Naidu (many a time Nandi award winner) coordinated the show and proposed a vote of thanks.
