Music festival
Sarvani Sangeetha Sabha Trust is conducting a three-day festival of music, featuring the compositions of Purandara Dasa, Swati Tirunal, Bhadrachala Ramadas, Toomu Narasimhadas and Sadasiva Brahmendra, August 21-23, at Music Academy Mini Hall. M. S. Sheela, Trivandrum K. Krishnakumar and N.S. Prakash Rao are the participating artistes. Concerts begin at 6.30 p.m. everyday. For details, call: 2815 1417.
Workshop
Music Forum and State Bank of India are jointly presenting a workshop, `Demystifying Carnatic Classical Music' for school and college students at Rani Seethai Hall, on August 19, 8.30 a.m.
The sessions feature leading Carnatic musicians and will be interactive, aided by powerpoint presentations.
R. Vedavalli will be the chairperson for all sessions. Vijay Siva, T. Rukmani, T. M. Krishna and Seetha Narayanan will speak on different topics. Mr. N. Murali, president, Music Academy, will be the guest of honour. The concluding session includes an interactive concert by S. Sunder.

Special Abhishekam and puja to Lord Saneeswara will be performed on August 19, at 10 a.m.
