VCD for children
`Thaayae ... Thamizhae,' Elaite Research Team's (4/3, Vasan Flats, Janagiyammal Street, Rangarajapuram, Kodambakkam, Ph: 98414 66812) collection of children's songs, claims to be the first video CD (Rs. 99) that features tiny tots throughout.
The disc consists of 15 songs, composed by Arun Selva, written by Mahima, filmed by Kutpudhin-Pazhani and edited by Prabhu-Shyam.
The songs, besides imparting positive ideas and teaching simple addition and subtraction, also tells the young ones about the various relationships in the family. Only that the music, the mechanical rendition, the self-conscious elders brought in to stand before the camera and repetitive beats (They are the same for nearly all the numbers.) leave much to be desired.
The composer and singer ought to have breathed life into the songs that sound more like a mundane recitation exercise.
The number on mathematics is easy on the ear, and compared to the others `Chinna Kuyilgalae' is slightly melodious.
