Special Onam fare on Malayalam channels



COMEDY MIMICSUM PINNE ONAVUM on Kairali, 10.00, September 5.

It's festival fever on all the Malayalam channels as each one prepares a special mix of programmes to keep viewers glued to the small screen.

Asianet

Asianet celebrates Onam and the 14th anniversary of the channel. The celebration on Asianet starts on August 27.

An interview with music director P. Jayachandran (07.30) and `Achuthananda sangamam' on `Nammal Thammil' (22.00) are the highlights on September 2. Vidyasagar would be interviewed by playback singers Tipu, Vijay Jesudas and Mahati (07.35) on September 3. `Cinemala' (21.30) on that day would be a take on the film `Nadodikattu.'

The programmes begin early on September 4 with `Onachitrangal' (07.00.) followed by an interview with K.S. Chitra at 07.35. Poornima Mohan talks to Kamal Hassan (`Kamalum Kayalum') at 17.30. Watch `Pulivalkalyanam' (09.00) and `Njan Salperu Ramankutty' (13.30).



KAMALUM KAYALUM on Asianet, 17.30, September 4.

Thiruonam brings actor Vikram on screen with `Hi Vikram' (07.00) `De Maveli Kombathu' (09.00) has artistes like Dileep, Salim Kumar and Machan Varghese performing mimicry, parody songs, skits and the like. `Mammootty Vs Mammootty' at 16.00. Interviews with Nayanthara, Sreenivasan and Vineeth Sreenivasan find the stars in a festive mood as they discuss their plans and films. The movies for the day are `Vismayathumbathu' (09.00) and `Vettam' (17.00).

`Karathamaniyam Vellutha Pattum' features Kalabhavan Mani at 06.00 on September 6.Walk down memory lane with stars as they travel to their hometowns.

The movie `Koottu' (9.00) and `Onam Oru Kuttanadan Style' (17.00) are the highlights on Wednesday. Sheela (7.00) and Meera Jasmine (16.00) share their cinematic experiences with viewers. From Dubai, tune in to song, dance and skits led by artistes such as M.G. Sreekumar, Rimi Tomy, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Chandra Lakshman and Babu Jose.

September 7 has interviews with Sindhu Menon (07.35), Prakash Raj (12.00) and Soorya (17.30). The movie for the day is `Rain Rain Come Again (13.30.)

Asianet News channel programmes includes Regional flavours of Onam (September 1), Onachitrangal (September 4), Maveli varta (September 5), and Ona ganangal (September 9).

For the youth, Asianet Plus brings interviews with celebrities such as Harris Jayaraj, Dileep, Kavya Madhavan, Jayaram, and Padma Priya. Go on a road trip with the channel's VJs as they embark on a reality travel show. Music programmes will be a plenty.

SWASTHI HAI SOORYA on Asianet, 17.30, September 7.

It is a dual celebration for Kairali channel, which is celebrating its seventh anniversary. The celebration begins on September 3. The channel brings viewers interviews with a host of celebrities. The programmes have been grouped into `bands' and the timing for each has been fixed on all the days, beginning September 3. Join Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Bharath Murali (07.00 a.m., September 3).

This programme in the `Legends band,' to be aired at 07.00 everyday from September 4 to 7, will feature stalwarts such as T. Padmanabhan, K.J. Jesudas, Mukundan and Yusuf Ali Kecheri. The `heroine band' at 08.30 a.m. will have interviews of Geethu Mohandas, Kavya Madhavan, Laila and Samvrutha. Stars who excel as villains, such as Saikumar, Rajan P. Dev, Ravindran and Bhiman Raghu, appear at 09. 30. Youth band at 13.30 will carry interviews with Rahman (Monday), Kunchako Boben (Wednesday) and Renuka Menon (Thursday).

A special cookery show `Malayalathintte Maha Ruchi' will be aired from September 4 to 9 at 14.00.

Everyday at 14.30, stars who have excelled in comedy appear in `comedy band from September 4. Jayaram, Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani and family and Jayasoorya promise to keep you smiling.

Dileep (`Narmathinte Nallaonam'), Mammootty (`Mammoottyumaayi Oru Divasanam'), Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi will appear in special shows to be telecast at 21.30 from Monday to Thursday.

Those who can carry a tune and are music aficionados can try their luck in `Sing and Win' conducted live at 10.00 on September 3. Magic Oven, hosted by Lakshmi Nair, (11.00) has special recipes for Onam. Tete-a-tete with Padma Priya at 14.00.

Watch Richa Sharma (10.00, September 4) shake a leg at an event in Kozhikode.

Laugh along in `Comedy Mimicsum Pinne Onavum' at 10.00 on September 5.

Get a glimpse into the life of Mallika Sukumaran and her sons Indrajith and Pritiviraj in `Hai..Everybody' (13.30, September 5).

Enjoy the line-up of movies for the season: `Valleyettan' (15.00, September 3), `Thenkashipattanam' (15.00, September 4), `Thommanum Makkalum' (15.00, September 5), `Vietnam Colony' (15.00, September 6) and `Ee Parakkum Thalika' (15.00, September 7).

ACV



RICHA SHARMA SHOW on Kairali, 10.00, September 4.

Entertainment will be the highlight of ACV as part of its Onam fiesta from September 1 to 10. It's music by moonlight in `Sayahnasangeetam' led by Unni Menon 10.00, September 2. It's more music, dance and comedy in `Sasneham' (13.30, September 3). On the same day, `Muralika' (10.00) by T.K. Rajeev Kumar is a mega music show, while `The Masters' (19.00) sees the show celebrating its 100th episode with an hour-long special starring Afzal, Gayathri, Madhu Balakrishnan and others.

Get up close and personal with the stars of Mollywood and Kollywood. Mamta, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Devanand, Franko and others serenade listeners at 22.00, September 5.

`Swarasangamam' at 10.00, from September 6 to 10, has over 50 Malayalam playback singers at their best. `Shakthi' (13.30, September 5) is a dance concert by Soorya Krishnamurthy. Tamil and Malayalam movie hits are also in the line-up.

HAI...EVERYBODY on Kairali, 13.30, September 5.

Amrita Television has also prepared a bouquet of programmes for the festival season. Watch the latest Malayalam blockbusters and hit Tamil movies such as `Run,' `Khusi' and `Boys,' which have been dubbed into Malayalam.

Celebrities speak on what Onam means to them and how they spend it. Go behind the scenes of V.M. Vinu's `Yes Your Honour' and Laljose's `Classmates.' It is an informal get-together in `Virunnu,' as artist Namboodiri, playback singer Manjari and magician Muthukadu drop by Education Minister M.A. Baby's house. `Samagamam-Kalabhavan,' will bring together artistes of Kalabhavan like Jayaram, Dileep and Siddique.

Music lovers can choose from a wide range of programmes. For children, the channel has `Dileep and kids,' in which children can ask him questions and `Treasure hunt-youth and kids.' A special edition of `Sruthilayam' brings leading singers like Ramesh Narayan and Manjari.

`Taste of Kerala' is for those who would like to try their hand at a new dish or two. `Madras Masala,' has stars of Kollywood sharing their experience of Onam.

INTERVIEW WITH RAHMAN on Kairali, 13.30, September 4.

The four-day celebration on the channel begins on September 4. `Krishnatheertam,' a feature on the Sree Krishna temples in Kerala, `Gurusmaranayude Chatayam,' and programmes on the indigenous music and dance forms of Kerala would be telecast . The movies to be screened are `Kazhcha,' `Natturajavu' and `Pattanathil Sundaran.'

Interviews with Nayantara, Renuka Menon, Jayaram, Naren, Padmapriya, Baburaj, Murali, Jyothirmayi and Sindhu Menon will be of special interest to cinema buffs.

Stars, including Dileep, and crew of the Shaji Kailas film `Don' will participate in a show on the film while Mammootty and Sreenivas get together for a chat on their film `Bhargavacharitham Moonam Kandam.' Young actors of Lal Jose's `Classmates' will also gather for an interesting programme on the film.

Poornima Mohan and Mallika Sukumaran will participate in a cookery show.

Music shows of all kinds have also been planned on all the four days.
