Music series
HCL in association with Music Academy, launched the HCL concert series on September 10, 6 p.m. at TTK Auditorium, TTD Road. The inauguration will be followed by a vocal recital of Sudha Raghunathan with M. R. Gopinath (violin), Neyveli Skandasubramanian (mridangam) and R. Raman (moharsing).
Honour for artistes
Kartik Fine Arts will honour the following artistes during their 32nd art festival: Malladi Brothers - Isaiperoli; Bhargavi Gopalan - Nadanamamani; Master Balamuralikrishna - D. K. Pattammal Award of excellence for young and talented artiste; Ashwini Viswanathan - Natya Chudar.
The sabha is also conferring the following titles during their 11th year Tamil Isai festival at Valliammal College for Women, Silver Jubilee Hall: D. K. Pattammal - Tamil Isai Vendhar; K. Gayathri - Isaichudar; Sikkil R. Bhaskaran - Sirgazhi Govindarajan memorial award.
The Indian Fine Arts Society is conferring the title, `Sangeetha Kalasikhamani' on the inaugural day of music festival (Dec. 16). On the concluding day of the festival (Jan. 4, 2007) Revathy Ramachandran will be conferred the title, `Natya Kalasikhamani.'
Consecration
The Maha Kumbabhishekam of Santhanayaki Udanaya Arulmigu Pasupathinathar temple, Tirukondiswaram, is scheduled to take place on September 10. The place is situated on the banks of the Mudikondanm a tributary of the Cauvery, about two kilometres east of Nannilam taluk. Special pujas and homams will precede the consecration ceremony on Sunday, 11 a.m. The Lord will be taken out on a procession in the evening.
The consecration of the deities Valli Devasena Sametha Sri Kubera Subramaniar, Navagrahas, Mahalakshmi, Sri Gnana Saraswathi, Annapurni will take place at Siva Vishnu temple, Muthial Reddy Nagar, Adambakkam, on September 10, 10.30 a.m.-12 noon. Homams, Vaastu Shanthi, special abishekam and procession of deities will take place in this connection.
Jayanthi
Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Chennapuri Baktha Jana Samajam is observing the 72nd Jayanthi of Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal on September 10 with a programme at Vani Mahal, T. Nagar at 3 p.m. Ramjhi's Isai Mazhalai troupe will sing Pancharatna kirtanas followed by a special lecture by Swami Vijayendra Saraswathi.
Special course
Sampradaya is conducting a special course on Annamacharya kritis and Bhadrachalam Ramadas kritis from September 12-16 at Ragasudha Hall, Mylapore, 3-5 p.m. and at Sampradaya office in Kalakhetra, 10.30 a.m.- 12.30 p.m.

Akhanda ganam
Sri Krishna, Sri Raghavendra Trust, Ananda Tirtha Pratishtana and Akhanda Bhajana Samithi has jointly organised Akhanda ganam, to be performed for 24 hours, of all Dasarapadas (Kannada) from September 10 7 a.mtoSeptember 11, 7 a.m. at Srikrishna Sri Raghavendra Math, New No.17, Raghaviah Road, T. Nagar.
Discourse
Mylapore Fine Arts Club, has organised harikatha on "Sri Tyagarajarin Pancharatna Vaibhavam," and "Meera Bai" to be rendered by Visaka Hari at Srinivasa Sastri Hall, Luz, Mylapore, on September 13 and 14, 6.30 p.m.
