Also an actor

Dear Sir,

I read with much interest the write-up on S. Rajam, musician, musicologist and artist (Master of Twin Arts, Friday Review, Sept. 1).

A simple person, Rajam also acted in the Tamil film, `Sivakavi' in a small role in which his sister Jayalakshmi also portrayed the character of the heroine and paired with M. K. Thyagaraja Bagavathar.

Rajam also lent his voice to Kamaraj (brother of the late Devaraja Urs, former Chief Minister of Karnataka) in the Tamil film, `Raja Vikramaditha' and the song is in the raga Chitharanjani, on the lines of `Nadha Thanumanisam'.

The lecture demonstrations presented by him for the Music Academy and the Indian Fine Arts Society in the past were on rare subjects and were well attended. They were also very informative and educative. Many students trained by him are in the forefront today.

Sulochana Shrinivasan,

Chennai.
