Romancing the East Coast Road

S. R. ASHOK KUMAR

The hot shooting spot becomes the subject of this film.

BASED ON REAL EXPERIENCE: Kizhaku Kadarkarai Salai

True to its title the shooting was going on in full swing on "Kizhaku Kadarkarai Salai" with the lead pair Srikanth and Bhavna waiting for the camera to roll.

The director, S.S.Stanley, was checking the details as his assistant was reading the dialogue to the heroine and Srikanth was giving finishing touches to his make-up. When everyone was ready Stanley called ``Start" and the lead pair swung into action.

It was a petrol filling station manned by Srikanth and Bhavna comes there with her car. Stanley shouted ``Cut" here and asked the two to change their costume for a run the road. The two obliged and the cameraman Pannerselvam (of April Maadhathil) approved the shot. The traffic that had come to a halt resumed. The crew then shifted to a spot close to the sea. Actors Muthukalai, Ganja Karuppu and Santhanabharati joined them.

Venthirai Kalam's "Kizhakku Kadarkari Salai' is scheduled for Deepavali.

The story (Stanley) is based on real experience, according to the director, who has also written the screenplay and dialogue. ``On July 17, when there were reports of another tsunami in Indonesia we were shooting inside the sea. But we didn't stop work. More than 90 per cent of the film has been shot on ECR and its neighbourhood," explained Stanley.

Surprise element

A surprise presence was that of Suresh (Panneer Pushpangal). He was cheered by the crowd that had gathered there, some seeking autograph.

Another surprise element was Super Subbarayan. He was lending a helping hand with the stunt scenes on shore and in the sea.

R.J.Anthanan produces the film and the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by S.S.Stanley.
