`Pramanikam' was a week-long festival that celebrated the sound of rhythm.

MEGA EVENT: `Pramanikam' had a Melotsavam featuring different melams.
Peruvanam, near Thrissur, which used to be a centre of Puranic and Tantric studies, is believed to be the birthplace of several Vedic scholars. This village hosted a mega event `Pramanikam.' A week-long festival based on `chenda melam' was organised by `Samskriti Kshethram,' an organisation that is striving to preserve Kerala's culture and heritage.
According to Peruvanam Kuttan Marar, chairperson of the committee and well-known melam artiste, the programme is aimed at promoting melams and at creating a platform for melam artistes.
Honouring veterans
Kombath Kuttan Panicker (kurumkuzhal artiste), Kummath Ramankutty Nair (kombu artiste) and Maniyamparambil Manimarar (elathalam), were honoured during the fete.
KPC Narayanan Bhattathiripad, a scholar in the Vedas, was presented `Kshethra Rathna' award constituted by Samskriti Kshetra.
A variety of cultural programmes enriched the seven-day festival. A Melotsavam featuring different melams was a five-day event.
The programme began with Chembada melam by Cherussery Kuttan Marar. The second day saw Pazhuvil Rekhu Marar leading a Dhruva melam followed by Peruvanam Satheesan Marar leading an Adantha melam. An Anjadantha melam by Kizhukkut Aniyan Marar on the fourth day and a Dhamba melam by Peruvanam Kuttan Marar on the fifth concluded the Melotsavam.
A Nadaswaram by Cherthala Ramakrishnan and Harippad Murukan had music lovers enjoying the melodious notes.
Vadyasangeethikam - a symphony of percussion and music - headed by Pallavoor Krishnankutty enthralled the audience. A thayambaka by Kalloor Ramankutty Marar, Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar and Kallekulangara Achuthankutty Marar made the event a memorable one.
Fifty artistes participated in a panchavadyam headed by Kuzhur Narayana Marar. The final day saw V.K.K. Hariharan leading the mizhavu Thayambaka.
Kathakali show
The day concluded with a night-long Kathakali show. Kalamandalam Balasubramanian played Dharmaputhra in `Kirmeeravadham.' He maintained the `sthayi bhava' of Karuna. `Sreeramapattabhisekam' was also staged.
