Kala Darsini and Adarsha Samskritika Kala Nikethan, Vijayawada jointly presented a dance drama, Shirdi Sai Baba, at Sri Sivaramakrishna Kshetram. The well-enacted dance drama depicted episodes starting with the young Baba giving darshan to his devotees and ending with the great sage attaining his sidhi.
Noted patrons of art, Putta Jaganmohana Rao and his wife inaugurated the programme. The absorbing drama was scripted by Suravarapu Ramesh Babu, who also played the role of Sai Baba with devotional involvement.
The choreographic part was handled by S. Ramavani. Excellent performances came from Tejaswini, Yasaswini, Priyadarsini, Anusha, Sai Tejaswi, Bhargavi, Sowjanya, John Mia, Vidya Sagar, Ganapathi Rao, Anjaneya Raju and Mahesh. K. Suryanarayana (vocal) and Hemantkumar (nattuvangam) provided the music.
Gripping drama
Andhra Arts Academy's presentation was another interesting drama staged by Geeta Kala Mandir of Tanuku.
The story was about Lakshmamma, a housewife with great virtues who became a goddess to the people of Nandigama region. She is worshipped as the deity `Perantalu' even now. The drama was grippingly scripted by Malladi Suryanarayana and slickly directed by P. Das.
