LOVE ALL All the plays created a laugh riot.
Tamil Kalai Mandram, a socio-cultural association of Tamilians in Visakhapatnam, organised a three-day drama fete last week in Kalabharathi. They staged hilarious comedies Kathalikka Neeramundu and Thanthramukhi scripted by Chitralaya Sriram and a detective play of sorts Lights On by Y. Gee. Mahendra of cine, TV and AIR fame with dialogues by Venkat, all directed with remarkable elan and professional finesse by Mahendra. With dialogues full of satirical pun and punch, the plays created a laugh riot on all the three days. The first two plays depicted love affairs ending in happy marriages, the other play was a story of a rehearsal ingeniously conducted for detecting as to how one of the actors killed the person who played the role of heroine and made it appear as a suicide. Showcasing excellent histrionic talent with empathy, Mahendra, Anandhi and local artiste A. Manoharan, who was instantly selected to play minor characters, lived their roles in all the plays. Girish, Purushottaman and Nagalakshmi in all the plays, Kalai Ravi, Subramani, Brinda, Gopu, Suppini and Subbu taking part either in one or two plays did well sustaining the tempo.
