With an aim to collect and get all available information, especially the recorded versions of the poems the poet duo (Venkatasubbaraya Kavi - November 1885 - March 1932 and his younger brother Venkataramanayya Kavi - December 1887 - March 1942 who stand hailed as the first and last of their kind rendering 400 poems per hour extempore instantly on any given subject in Avadhanams) published for posterity, their grandson M.Ch.R.M. Subbaraya Sarma who is popularly known as Maa Sarma, established the `peetham' in the name of his maternal grand fathers in 2002. The recipient of the Puraskar (the earlier being Peesapati Narasimha Murthy, Veturi Sundrarama Murthy and Bethavolu Ramabrahmam besides Perala) Medasani Mohan was born on April 19, 1955 to Ayyanna Naidu and Lakshmamma at Nadimpalli in Chittoor district. Known for his flair in the art of poetry in Telugu, he obtained the Ph.D from the SVU after doing M.A. Telugu literature in the same university.
