Laugh out aloud

A bunch of witty plays and mimicry ensured a fine treat for the audience.

FUN TIME Members of Visakha Humour club presenting a skit.

Visakha Humour Club, founded in 2000 on Ganesh Chaturti day, began functioning with the noted writer Bhamidipati Ramagopalam (Bharago) as the president and cine comedian and dramatist Ravi Kondala Rao as its convener on the same day. Commemorating their 100th show and its sixth anniversary, its members presented a show of humorous skits and mimicry.

After the presentation of the annual report and welcome address by its secretary Nanduri Prabhakar, mimicry artiste and ventriloquist Padmasri Nerella Venumahav was honoured.

The brief but bewitching show of mimicry and ventriloquism was replete with empathetic simulation of many an episode including the background music and the voices of the actors from some of the classic movies of the yore in English, Hindi and Telugu by Nerella, was the highlight of the evening. Skits like Korikalu Teerche Baavi, Neekosame yee prema, Yee roju ennatiki marachipolemu and Uppu were hilarious comedies that enthralled all alike. The plays were presented by the club members N. Prabhakar, R. Gopikrishna, K. Siva Ramakrishna, E. Bhanuprakash, S.S. Ramanujam, R.S.N. Murthy and others along with Sivajyothi and B.V. Lakshmi. Much to the delight of the audience, Kasiviswanath and Kallu Chidambaram presented a couple of skits.
