Hero sports another cap

S.R.ASHOK KUMAR

Sarat Kumar wields the megaphone for Thalai Magan.

Yet another actor turns director. At the AVM Studios, Sarath Kumar checked out his performance after each shot on the television screen. Wife and producer Radhika was engrossed in choosing the hero's costumes.

``Thalai Magan" has Kushboo and director K.S.Ravikumar in the cast.

On the one side of the set there was a huge bar and in the middle was a big stage where more than a dozen people could dance.

Sarat Kumar, after a quick rehearsal, went for the shot and did it to the satisfaction of the dance master too. From `Pulan Visaranai,' in which he made his debut as the villain, Sarat Kumar has come a long way.

This time as a journalist

In `Thalai Magan,' he is playing Dheeran, a journalist. Curiously, Sarat Kumar was a journalist before entering the tinsel town. He completes a full circle, having been a producer, an actor and now director. After "Aiya," Nayanthara pairs with Sarath Kumar. She has a substantial role to play, apart from giving that touch of glamour.

Vadivelu, appearing as a press photographer, takes care of the comedy track.

The cast includes Seema Biswas. Paul Jacob and Srikanth Deva, popular for their `kuththu paattu,' have scored the music.

When asked for his comments, director-actor Sarath Kumar said, ``Let the movie speak for itself."
