Devan Drone, the Indian classical fusion music group, enthralled the audience at Shilparamam here recently with their unique Carnatic music with a western touch, blending Hindustani with Irish Music and more. The orchestra comprised of young musicians Vasudevan on the violin, Dronendra Phani Kumar (flute), Kalyana Raman ( mridangam), Surabhi Phani Bhushan (ghatam), Pavan (rhythm pads) and Arun Balakrishna (guitar). The ensemble opened the recital with the Vaataapiganapatim (Hamsadhwani, Adi). The high speed Swarakalpanas on both violin and flute that they included during the ending of this item left the audience spellbound. The English Note composed by Sri Madhurai Mani Iyer in raga Shankarabharanam with few alien notes was the next item perfectly presented by Devan Drone to give the western music feel to the audience. . , where they teach music to various aspirants.
