Celebration

Siva Sakthi Sathya Sai Charitable Trust has organised Siva Sakthi Utsav 2006 on October 14, 5.30 p.m. at Kamaraj Memorial Hall, Teynampet. T.P.Sreenivasan, former ambassador, United Nations, V. Shankar, secretary, SIES, Mumbai, veteran film maker Balu Mahendra and film and TV star Mounika Mahendra will be the guests of honour. A souvenir, `Rhythm-2006' will be released on the occasion followed by the honouring of Siva Sakthi Sigarangal-2006. There will be a musical extravaganza by Bharathi Entertainers, Chennai.

Annual day

Kunnakudy School of Music, Tiruvanmiyur, is celebrating its annual day and memorial day of Kunnakudi Venkatarama Iyer on October 14, 6 p.m. at Vijaya Raja Kalyana Mandapam, Sastry Nagar, Adyar. Pithukuli Murugadas will preside and Subbu Arumugam will be the chief guest. Salem Vasudevan, a disciple of Kunnakudi Venkatarama Iyer will speak on the occasion.

Harikatha

Sarvani Sangeetha Sabha has organised a Harikatha in Telugu on `Jagadguru Adisankara' by M.V.Simhachala Sastry of Sri Venkateswara College of Music, Tirupati, on Oct. 15, 6 p.m. onwards, at Music Academy Mini Hall.

Abhang

Asthika Samajam, Tiruvanmiyur has organised abhang bhajan by Thukaram Ganapathi on October 16, 6.30 p.m. at Amarabharathi, 12 West Tank Street.

Sri Sath Sangam, Madipakkam, has organised abhang harikatha, `Udan Varuvathu Kadavul' by Kadayanallur Thukaram Ganapathi, September 15, 6.45 p.m. at Papanasam Sivan Sangeetha Sabha Sath Sangam, Sathsangam Road.

Concert

Kala Mandir Trust has organised a programme, `Sri Sharada Vandanam,' a collection of songs on Goddess Sharada rendered by T.M.Krishna, Sriram Parasuram (violin), Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman (mridangam) and T.V.Vasan (ghatam) at the Music Academy on October 18, 6.15 p.m. Srinidhi Chidambaram will present a solo Bharatnatyam recital, `Krishnarpanam' on Lord Krishna at 7.30 p.m. the same day.

Thiruppavadai Utsavam

The festival is being celebrated at Sri Oppiliappan Pattabisheka Ramar Temple, Ram Nagar (North), Puzhuthivakkam for the eighth year on October 15, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. For details, call: 2495 2720/2230 0052.
