The sun soaked pristine beach of Kailasagiri, near Visakhapatnam, formed an ideal location to shoot a romantic scene for Sri Sadguru Cinema's maiden venture. The film, tentatively titled Pillaa Pillaadu (Eedu Jodu is the tag line), is directed by Sri Rama. As we follow cinematographer Anil's camera, it captures a pair of two wheelers. As the trail goes further towards the sea we can see two pairs of footwear and further up, a young man and woman are engaged in sculpting the sand.
Sand sculpture
Anil positions the camera at a particular angle and The director guides the actors to get the right expressions. The director moves out of the `field' area and the camera rolls. At a close look, we found that the young man's the hero of the film, Sairam Shankar and the girl Suhasi, a model turned actress.
It is the hero who is working on the sand sculpture, while she is helping him to fine tune it. Finally his work is over and he looks at her for appreciative nod. To his dismay, he finds an an iota of dissatisfaction in her eyes. The hero thinks for a while and his face lits up the moment he spots somebody at a distance. As the satisfied director orders for a `cut', the camera whirrs to a stop.
"Wondering what the hero is up to now?" Sri Rama questions in a quizzical manner and answers it with a smile. "Anand (Sairam Shankar) finds that Latha (Suhasi) feels that authenticity is missing in his creation. He spots an old beggar and makes him sit next to the sand temple. We will be shooting that block now," he says and moves towards the actors and the cinematographer.
An assistant director brings the clapboard and it is `camera' `action' again. The camera captures Latha's smile and tilts towards Anand who sports a happy smile too.
"They like each other but were unable to express it. This is an occasion where the hero tries to convey his feelings. Naresh plays his father and is an employee of a motorbike manufacturing company. He is a friendly dad. He enjoys watching his son fulfil dreams that he couldn't fulfil during his younger days. Suhasi has a meaty role. She comes from a large family a granny (Annapurna), father (Kota Sanakara Rao), mother (Rajeswari), elder brother (Harshavardhan) and a sister-in-law (Hemalatha). They try to get her married, but every alliance fizzle out," explains the director.
Then he reveals the real storyline. "The concept is based on the saying that marriages are made in heaven. However one may try, nothing can be done about it. Director Sukumar (of Arya fame) has contributed with his valuable inputs. The story and dialogues are by his brother Prakash, while I wrote the screenplay besides writing it on celluloid," smiles Sri Rama. The actors are getting back to business and Sri Rama joins them.
It is nice to see the smile on the producer's face. Things must be progressing smoothly. "With the day's shoot we will be completing this second schedule as planned," says the producer Raghunath Sogi. "R.P. Patnaik has scored the music for the six songs. We shot two songs here in the beach. Luckily for us, there were good rains to shoot one of the songs. The effect in the song are real and not motor generated ," he explains.
"We will shoot rest of the portions in Hyderabad and then move to Switzerland to film two duets." As clouds chase one another the shoot continues in that pleasant place.
