Festival bonanza

Special programmes galore for Deepavali and Ramzan.



MANIKYAVEENA on Kairali, October 21, 15.30

Television channels have prepared a banquet of programmes to celebrate Deepavali and Ramzan. Interviews with the stars are a staple on the channels and so are music programmes.

Asianet

Playback singers Madhu Balakrishnan and Vani Jairam begin Asianet's festival fare on October 21 at 7.35 on `Suprabhatham.' Actor Praveena's devotionals at 9.00 will be followed by a chat show with Sujatha and her daughter Swetha at 9.30

Join actors of the serial `Sanmanasullavarku Samadhanam' for a live chat show at 14.00. A tele-film called `Excuse Me, We Are Executives' at 15.00 will precede `Tara Vishesham' at 17.00. `Kunjikoonen' at 10.30 and `Greetings' at 17.30 are the movies for the day. A new series `Sahasikante Lokam' premiers at 21.30.

Ramzan celebrations on October 24 begin on a musical note at 7.00. Super hit films `Chambakulam Thachan' and `Kottaram Vadiyan' will be telecast at 9.30 and 13.55 respectively. Serial actors participate in a chat show at 8.35.

A mega show `Iftar 2006' will be telecast at 12.00. Iftar songs at 16.30 will be followed by a programme called `Mukhapadam' at 17.25.

Kairali

Kairali has a plethora of special programmes for Deepavali. Danseuse and social activist Mrinalini Sarabhai talks to Dr. Neena Prasad about her philosophy, cultural activism and her roles as dancer, daughter, mother and teacher. The interview will be telecast on October 21 at 7.30.

An interview with Vikram will be aired at 8.30. A special cookery session at 9.00 has Lakshmi Nair showing how to make sweets.



CHAT WITH SUJATA AND SHWETA on Asianet, October 21, 14.00

Watch Kalabhavan Mani and his friends in a special programme at 14.30. `Manikyaveena,' a tribute to O.N.V. Kurup, comprising songs and poems composed by him, will be telecast at 15.30.

Mehdi Hassan's ghazals begin the festivities at 8.30 on Tuesday. A special Ramzan programme will be aired at 9.00.

Watch Mohanlal's Hindi film `Company,' which has been dubbed into Malayalam, at 11.30. `Id Nila' at 15.00 will focus on Kerala's secular tradition and ethos. A special episode on K.T. Muhammad at 16.00 will highlight his contributions to theatre. Baburaj's melodies will be recreated at 18.00.

At 21.30, join ghazal singer Umbayi on a musical journey through the backwaters of Kochi.

Surya TV

Surya TV's Deepavali programmes on October 21 begin with a special `Pon Pulari' at 7.00. in which M.G. Radhakrishnan appears as the guest of the day.

An interview with Karthika will be telecast at 9.30. and Baburaj opens his heart in `Njan Villainall' at 10.00. Madhu Balakrishnan's interview at 10.30 will be followed by the Dileep starrer `CID Moosa' at 11.00. A lively tete-a-tete with Mamata Mohandas at 14.00 will precede a mega stage show by film stars at 15.30. Another Dileep film `Pattanathill Sundaran' will be aired at 17.00.

On October 24, there is a bonanza for couch potatoes. Two films will be telecast at 9.00 and 17.00 respectively. Again, the day starts early with special guest Manikuttan on the breakfast show `Pon Pulari' (7.00).

A special segment on mosques in Kerala and traditional Muslim art forms of Kerala will be included in this episode. The stars of the Mammootty film `Pothenvava' will appear in a special episode at 11.30.

Siddique's interview at 12.00 will be followed by a chat with actors Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Gopika and Baby Nayantara. Tune into the latest songs at 13.30. Symphony at 17.30 will feature Mammmotty.
