Statue of a great
Srikakulam village in Krishna district was the birthplace of Parupalli Ramakrishnaiah Pantulu who was a great vocal vidwan and even more an ideal guru who trained more than hundred disciples rendering unforgettable service to the cause of music. Dr. Manglampalli Balamuralikrishna, Annavarapu Ramaswami, N. Ch. Krishnamacharyulu, Neti Srirama Sarma, M. V. Ramanamurthy were a few of the eminent musicians trained by Ramakrishnaiah Pantulu.
A statue of Ramakrishnaiah Pantulu was unveiled recently in a colourful function presided over by panchayathi preseident K. Esubabu. Several musicians and Parupalli's sishya prasishyas attended the function paying homage to Parupalli. The statue was donated by Guttikonda Gopala Rao and his wife Kokilamba. A smaraka mandiram was also built by donors T. Venkataramiah and his brothers.
There was pancharatna brindaganam presented by musicians Annavarapu Ramaswamy, G.V.Ramakumari, P.Janaki, M.Sudhakar, M. Anjana Sudhakar and B.V.Durgabhavani. Support was provided by G. Satish Babu on the violin and M. Lakshminarayana Raju on the mridangam.
