Annabishekam

Annabishekam to Lord Meenakshi Sundareswarar at Senthalai village is scheduled for November 5. Senthalai is to the east of Tirukattupalli on the southern bank of River Kudamurutti in Thanjavur district.

Devotees believe that praying to the Lord on that day would rid them of their problems. Offering prayer to Saptha Kannigaigal is also considered special. The rays of the full moon fall on the deity's face on that day and the architectural beauty of the Rajagopuram of Goddess Meenakshi shrine is an added attraction.

Special abishekam

Vibudhi Abishekam will be performed first at 11 a.m. followed by the other abishekams. Lord Sundareswarar will be decorated with annam, vadai, athirasam and flowers in the evening. Maha Aarthi and annadanam will follow.

Every year annabishekam is performed to the Lord by Kandamangalam Sabesa Sadasivan and his family.
