Akshara Prakashana, Ninasam's publication wing has turned 50. To mark the occasion and also in commemoration of the late K.V. Subbanna, the motivating force of the Institution, Akshara Prakashana has brought out the series K.V. Subbana Nenapina Modala Odu.

For readers who wish to make their entry into the world of Kannada literature, Modala Odu serves as a good entry point. The book has been designed in a manner useful to first time readers. The series has selected works of important Kannada writers to include poets, critics and playwrights. Of the 25 books that it has released in its first instalment, there are five important works from pre-modern Kannada literature. Each book in the series runs to about 108 pages each.
