NATURAL FLAIR FOR MUSIC: Saralaya Sisters.

Kavitha Saralaya and Triveni Saralaya of Bangalore, popularly known as Saralaya Sisters, presented an enchanting vocal music concert at the monthly programme organised by the Sri Rama Gana Sabha Trust, Sundar Nagar, Tiruchi, recently.

For the Saralaya Sisters, born in a great sangeetha parampara that enjoyed the patronage of Thanjavur Raja on the paternal side their mother herself being a proficient Bharathanatyam dancer, music was a natural choice.

The main raga rendered by the sisters Simhendra Madhyamam ("Rama Rama Guna Seema," Swati Tirunal) was melodious.

They enthralled the audience with many songs composed by the doyens of Carnatic music like Tyagaraja, Dikshitar, Gopalakrishna Bharati, Purandaradasa and Harikesanallur Muthaiah Bhagavathar. The Saralaya sisters got able support from Serthalai M. N. Sathiyamoorthy (violin), Koppu G. Nagarajan (mridangam) and Raghu (morsing).
