Brazil for a change!

The Brazilian Embassy hosted its first Documentary Film Festival in New Delhi this past week.

In its effort to strengthen ties between India and Brazil, the Brazilian Embassy hosted its first Documentary Film Festival in New Delhi this past week. The two-day festival, which was inaugurated at The Embassy of Brazil by Jose Vicente Pimentel, the Ambassador of Brazil was organised in association with the India Habitat Centre.

Brazil is also planning football, music, dance and art exchanges with India, the ambassador added. The festival opened with a movie titled "En route to Baghdad" based on the life of the UN employee Sergio Vieira de Mello. Referring to the verdict on Saddam Hussein and the Iraq War the ambassador said that it was the right time to show the movie. The movie, he added is also close to the hearts of Brazilians as Sergio Vieira de Mello was also a Brazilian. The film festival also featured documentaries like "Longing for the Future", "Estamira", "The Prison and the Street", and "Nelson Freire", which were based on the people of Africa.

The movies were about the courageous Africans who have fought different battles in their life.

The screenings of documentaries in Portuguese with English subtitles werefollowed by discussions.
