Smokie, the Rock band known for its famous number "Living next door to Alice", is all set to rock Aizawl in Mizoram this Friday night.
To be held at the city's AR Ground, it will be a charity show for the Spastics Society of Mizoram, which had been running several institutions across the State for spastics children.
Prior to the show, the Yorkshire-based band will spend a day with spastic children studying at Gilead School in Aizawl's Chhinga Veng area.
After 35 years
The band will return to India after 35 years. Starting early November, the band, formed in 1975, has kick started its four-country tour beginning with Australia. After shows in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, it will reach Mizoram. Rinliana, the show coordinator at Aizawl, says, "Had it not been for a charity show we wouldn't have been able to pull in these guys to Mizoram."
John M. Hmar, Managing Director of Greyhound Finance, which sponsors the event, says, "We won't count how much money the show makes, We want the country to know that people out here are giving all they can for the spastics children and that is what counts."
