The magic of the word

The 20th Century has been not just an important phase for the human kind, but also for literature. Kannada literature has been enriched by the many developments that mark this significant phase. Poetry was an important component of Kannada writings in this period.

To take us back to those poetic moments - in life and literature - Ashtadikku Prakashana and Deshakaala quarterly Kannada journal have jointly organised a poetry reading session on November 26, 9.30 a.m. at Yavanika on Nrupathunga Road. This session will have a reading of one of Kannada's greatest poets, D.R. Bendre.

It aims to not just reconnect literary lovers with the magic of Bendre's poetry, but to also take them back to the grand-old days of Kannada literature.

The morning's programme includes prominent people from various fields reading poetry, voiceovers of Bendre himself reciting poetry, as also a display of photographs.
