A COLLECTIVE The Moodabidri Nudisiri Sahitya Sammelana brings together writers from various parts of the State in this three-day festival
It's not entirely the responsibility of government institutions, academies, and parishaths to take on the responsibility of saving a language. People of the land are equally responsible. Dr. Mohan Alwa, Chairman of the Alwa's Education Foundation, believes that the responsibility of shaping a language and its culture should never be given to the State. It should be largely carried out by the people within the framework of democracy, without the pressures of political forces.
The Nudisiri Sahitya Sammelana that has been happening at Moodabidre for the last two years is the outcome of such an engagement. It has now come to be known as Alwa's Nudisiri, considering that it was the brainchild of Dr. Mohan Alwa.
In this festival, the entire community takes part with a feeling that it's their own. This year, the Sammelana at Moodabidre, is scheduled to take place between November 24 and 26.
The first Nudisiri took place in 2004 and was chaired by the writer and thinker Baraguru Ramachandrappa. The theme of the year was "Kannada mind: Literary and Cultural Questions". Among the writer's who took part were Chandrashekhar Patil, Ki. Ram. Nagaraj, Rajendra Chenni, Vaidehi, B.R. Lakshman Rao and others. The theme for 2005,chaired by S.L. Bhyrappa, was "Kannada mind: Intellectual Freedom".
The Sammelana will not just have seminars and discussions, but also cultural programmes.
