What's in a name?

The title of the new film starring Upendra and Jennifer, which is being produced by Ramu and directed by Shivamani has been changed to Masti. Earlier the title of the film was finalised as Maasthi. However before shooting started, there were huge protests from the volunteers of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and a section of Kannada writers who were against the title as Maasthi was the most revered literary personality in Kannada. The new title was announced in a press conference addressed jointly by Upendra, Jennifer, Shivamani and Ramu.

Back in time

Madhu Bangarappa's new film Kallarali Hoovaagi a historical directed by Nagabharana will be released on December 22 all over the State. The film was premiered at the International film festival at Goa and received good response, according to the director. Bharana says a lot of research work has gone into the making of the film. "It is a musical love story for which music director Hamsalekha has composed very melodious folk songs," he said. Vijaya Raghavendra who has been getting a variety of roles recently plays a Hindu warrior while talented actress Uma Shankari plays a Muslim girl who is in love with the hero. The filmis based on a B. L. Venu's novel. Rebel Star Ambareesh, Sumalatha and Anant Nag have important roles in the film.


Hot debut

Namitha, the latest hot import from the Tamil film industry is in the Kannada film Neelakanta, which has Crazy Star Ravichandran in the lead. Bala Muttaiah produced the film while Sai Prakash who helmed Oda Huttidavaru with Ravichandran has directed it. Sree Devika from Kerala, who has been making inroads into the Kannada film industry is the second heroine in the film. Ravichandran has composed music for the film. It has been long time since he has composed music for a movie that he has not directed. Namitha is reported to sizzle in the song sequences.

Final schedule

The last phase of shooting for the Upendra starrer Parodi is being held at many places in Bangalore city. Already the fight sequences and the climax have been picturised in Mysore Lamp factory and Bannerghatta Road. Some sequences were also shot on a set erected in the Kanteerva Studios. Sai Prakash is the director. Neha from Mumbai is cast opposite Upendra whoplays a revolutionary. Rajesh Ramanath is the music director.
