Subbalakshmi Subramanian drew on her vast experience to create euphony.

A feeling of tranquillity permeated the minds of rasikas as the nimble fingers of the veena artiste Subbalakshmi Subramanian coaxed the strings of the veena to create sublime music.
Subbalakshmi Subramanian began her 80-minute veena recital with Devodu Iyer's varnam `Sami ninne kori' in Sri Ragam, set to Adi tala. She followed it with a Muthuswami Dikshitar composition `Mahaganapathim' in Natta. The raga `Simhendramadhyamam' was the main piece of the evening.
The Tyagaraja kriti `Nadajana' was set to Roopaka tala.
Gayaki style
Subbalakshmi smoothly delineated the raga and presented the kriti, in keeping with the gayaki style, that is akin to vocal rendering. The piece was rich with gamaka prayogas and swara sancharam.
A short thaniavarthnam was excellently executed by Nanjil Arul on the mridangam and Trivandrum Karthikeyan on the ghatam added charm to the concert. Subbalakshmi concluded her veena concert with a couple of Tirupugazh extolling the virtues of Lord Muruga. Composed by Arunagirinatha, the items included `Kombanai' in Kharaharapriya (Adi tala) and `Erumaileri vaa' in Amritavarshini.
A graded artiste of AIR, Subbalakshmi had her training under her father R. Stanusubramonia Iyer. The concert was preceded by the release of an audio CD, `Subanadhamrutham,' a collection of Carnatic compositions of masters played on the veena by Subbalakshmi. The function was jointly organised by Sri Chembai Memorial Trust and Guru Guha Audios.
