WONDERFUL SIGHT Krishnaswetha had perfect control over laya.
It was a wonderful sight watching G. Krishnaswetha presenting a Kuchipudi dance recital at Ambedkar Auditorium, A.U. Engineering College campus. A.U. Faculty of Department of Mechanical Engineeringorganised the show. Krishnaswetha, a medico, set off with the typical Kuchipudi verve in the invocatory item itself, Vinayaka Ninuvinaa (Hamsadhwani - Aadi) and went on to dance her way into the hearts of the audience taking up an expression oriented item next, Nagumomuganaleni of Thyagaraja (Abhedi - Aadi).
She lucidly depicted the Gajendramoksham episode with a professional touch. Showcasing of the artiste's felicitous control over laya by standing on the edges of a brass plate with a pot of water on her head with perfect balance, marked the item that followed. A Tharangam of Narayanatheertha (Jhanjhuti) depicted how a Gopika lures child Krishna to go to her house. Alarulukuriyaga Aadenade of Annamayya (Sankarabharanam) that describes the ecstatic dance of Alamelumanga, the Consort of Lord Venkateswara and Devistuti (Ragamalika) with which she concluded left an impression of being epitomes of aesthetic balance of delectable nritta, nritya and natya.
Nattuvangam by her guru Akundi Ramakrishna along with empathetically evocative vocals by Dwaram V.K.G Thyagaraju in the excellent company of G. Venkata Rao on mridangam, M. Neeladri Rao on violin and T. Atchutha Rao on flute were scintillating. Make-up by K. Chiranjeevi was good. Vice-Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy presented mementos.
