Playwright honoured

A three-day function was organised from December 15 to honour veteran playwright Raghunath Mishra at Ganjam Kalaparishad, Berhampur. Eighty-one-year-old Mr. Mishra, who has been writing and staging plays for the last five decades, has also produced a few Oriya films.

As part of the celebration, two of his plays Paribartan (transformation) and Jagruti (awakening) were staged.

Mr. Mishra's most significant contribution to the Oriya movie industry is Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja, based on the life of seventeenth centrury poet, in 1978 when the State was still depending on its neighbours for making movies.
