Fresh supply
Channel V has recently announced the winners of "VJ Freshers - Batch of 2006". And Delhi has a reason to be happy. One of the winners, Tanveer Gill is from the city. Along with co-winner Neil Bhoopalam from Mumbai, Tanveer will now be hosting shows for Channel V as a veejay.
The seven finalists participated in the final test in front of the judges, Ranvir Shourie, Vinay pathak, Prhalad Kakkar and Amar Deb, the Head Honcho of Channel V, in Mumbai.
Says an elated Tanveer, "I still can't believe that my dreams have finally come true!"
It's back
"Antakshari" is back. After entertaining for years on Zee TV, Gajendra Singh and Annu Kapoor have switched sides to Star One. The series will start this February. Meanwhile, Zee is coming up with its own version of Antakshari in January itself. Sameer Nair, CEO, Star Entertainment India, said, "Ganjendrra Siingh is the mastermind behind popularising music-based talent competitions and we are very excited to host his home production's debut venture - "Antakshari-The Great Challenge on Star One."
Daler judge
Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi seems to be on a correction mood these days. Just recently, as a judge of "Fame X", a reality hunt for singers on SAB TV, he has "set straight" some of the rules of "Fame Academy". According to the format, the Galla episode is held every Friday but Mehndi has decided to change the rule saying the participants don't get enough time to work on their performance. Based on their performances, the judges nominate four contestants for eviction from the show. The Bhangra king says he has taken the decision after visiting the participants in the `Academy'. Good to know that when the winners of reality shows are selected on viewer voting, judges have some say somewhere.
Expanding channel
Zee TV's expansion plans is continuing. It has just tied up with Media Overseas, a subsidiary of Canal Plus Group, for the launch of Media Overseas, a multi- channel satellite pay-television platform for the launch of its channels, Zee TV, Zee Muzic and Zee Cinema for Africa and Indian Ocean islands. So viewers of Canal Sat in over 20 countries including Reunion Island, Mauritius, Senegal, Cameroon, Togo, Mauritiana, Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo will get to watch these channels from Zee Network. <
The channels will have French sub-titles.
