Bombay Lakshmi Rajagopalan, an accomplished and talented Carnatic vocalist, recently gave a splendid concert at Rasika Ranjana Sabha, Tiruchi. With a crystal clear diction and amazing fluency, she wove a magic spell around the rasikas and transported them to a different world. Her selection of compositions for the programme was excellent.

Lakshmi began the concert with a brisk varnam in Nattakurinji followed by `Mahaganapathim' in Naattai.
The raga alapana of Harikhambodi followed by the famous kriti, `Rama Nannu Brovara' was dealt with very well.
Full of devotion
The viruttam in Hindolam, in praise of Paramacharya was full of devotion and bhakti. The main kriti, `Nidichala Sukhama,' of Tyagaraja was sung elaborately, followed by a thani avartanam. The latter half of the concert also was captivating, with pieces including `Enna Thavam' in Kapi and `Appane Ayyappane' in Nadanamakriya. Lakshmi concluded the concert with a tillana.
