DRAMATIC FORMAT `Bhuyo Bhuyo Namaamyaham'.
Kota Apparao, popularly known as Raojee is a name to reckon with among the galaxy of a few multifaceted doyens of theatre. He also stands revered for his insuperable service fastidiously to the firmament of Telugu social drama ever since he entered it exactly 50 years ago.Members of the organising committee of Amma Samskruthika Samsthan Trust established by himself for organising staging of plays on every first Friday, brought out a book titled Raojee Rangasthala Vaibhavam and in association with Visakha Music and Dance Academy, they organised a function on its release. Renowned theatre and literary personalities like Chaatla Sriramulu (Hyderabad), Dantu Surya Rao (Kakinada), Viriyala Lakshmipathi and K.G. Venu (Visakhapatnam) spoke on the occasion.
Elucidating the contents of the book, they opined that it speaks volumes not only of the contribution of glory to the theatre by Raojee but also on the 125-year-old history and development of Telugu social drama. P.Rajendra Prasad contributed grandeur with gusto. G.N. Bhushan of Bhushan Film designers and freelance journalist H. Rameshbabu of Nagarkurnul, designer and editor of the book were honoured on the occasion.
Staging of epic play Bhuyo Bhuyo Namaamyaham next, script by Burra Subrahmanya Sastry and excellently directed by Dixit for Sri Vijetha Arts, Rajampeta (Kadapa district) marked the monthly schedule of featuring a play every first Friday by VMDA. Depicted as a flash back of the events in Ramayana after Ravanavadha rendered in harikatha form, it graphically visualised all-important events in dramatic format. Soulful involvement achieving a spirited team work coupled with excellent show of histrionic talent by all actors (18), S. Krishnakumar as Rama and his wife Arunakumari as Sita, S. Abdullah as Lakshmana, K.V.K. Raju as Anjaneya, J.V. Reddy as Sugriva and Ch.Bhaskara Rao as Haridas in particular marked the performance.
Crystal clear clarity, melody and empathy in intoning of the dialogues scripted in the poetic idiom and set to exquisite music by Valli Saheb (also lent excellent support on harmonium) made the presentation all the more absorbing.
