Stargazing

MALATHI RANGARAJAN

Twin roles

Actor Ramesh Arvind whose yen for comedy was marked in films such as `Sati Leelavati,' `Pancha Thanthiram' and `Mumbai Xpress,' proved himself as a director too, with the Kannada remake of `Sati Leelavati' that had both Ramesh Arvind and Kamal Haasan acting in it. The film, `Rama Shama Bama,' was a hit. So it isn't surprising that Arvind is on to his second directorial venture in Kannada, `Satyavaan Savitri.' Ramesh is also the hero of `Satyavaan ... ' with Jennifer Kotwal and Daisy Boppana as heroines. "And like `RSB' it will be a laugh riot," assures Arvind.

Science, Suryah, Shakti

After Satyaraj, filmmaker Shakti Chidambaram joins hands with S.J.Suryah for his home production, `Vyaabaari.' Chidambaram takes the science route for his film with Suryah. Earlier director-actor Suryah had tried out the science fiction angle in his, `New.' Now Shakti Chidambaram follows suit. Cloning, you are told, is the subject dealt with in the film - innovative, you could say. But you also hope the effort doesn't turn out to be juvenile. Tamanna, Namita and Malavika are the heroines of `Vyaabaari.'

Bhavana's choice

Beginning with `Chithiram Paesudhadi,' her debut film in Tamil, Bhavana has chosen her characters with care. "Story and her part in it are primary. She always goes in for meaningful roles. Even if the maker is new, if her role is promising she doesn't hesitate to sign on the dotted line," says her PRO. And Bhavana balances both her Malayalam and Tamil projects well. Her next film in Malayalam is with Mohanlal and in Tamil it will be `Rameswaram,' with Jeeva as hero.

New cast

`Unnalae Unnalae' is in its post-production stage and according to a unit hand its new hero Vinay has already begun getting other offers. "He is a Bangalore-based model and a national level sportsman. He wants to wait till `Unnalae .' is released. Vinay is quite excited about the film," he tells you. Sada and Kajol's sister Tanisha are the heroines of `Unnalae .'. The audio is a hit already. That's nothing new. The Jeeva - Harris Jeyaraj combination is known for its chartbusters.
