Tarangam Music Fest

The 261st aradhana of Sri Narayana Tirtha, a pioneer of Namasankeertana and bhajana sampradaya tradition, and the Tarangam Music Festival, will be held at the brindavan of the saint at Tirupoonthuruthy, near Thanjavur, from February 22 - 24. The programme on February 22 will begin with Veda Parayanam in the morning.

Chanting by the members of the All India Vishnu Sahasranama Cultural Federation will follow. Bommaraju Panduranga Rao and party will present the Andhra sampradaya Taranga bhajans in the afternoon.

Other highlights

The inauguration of the aradhana events is slated for 4.30 p.m. on the 22nd.The agenda includes Maharajapuram S. Ramachandran's tarangam concert and a religious discourse on Narayana Tirtha (which will take place on all three days) by B. Sundar Kumar.

At 9 p.m. on the inaugural day, Udayalur Kalyanarama Bhagavathar will render Namasankeertanam.

The highlights on the second day (Feb.23) will be a tarangam concert by O. S. Thyagarajan, followed by a Bharatanatyam recital, `Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini.' Special puja and abhishekam will be performed at the Jeeva Samadhi of Sri Narayana Tirtha, on Feb. 24. On the same evening at 9.30 p.m., K. J. Yesudas will present a tarangam concert.

Children from the two tarangam vidyasalas run by the Aradhana Committee and from educational institutions in the vicinity will also participate in the proceedings.
