Dissecting mythology

The Dakshayagnam harikatha showcased talent.

Visakha Music and Dance Academy organised Dakshayagnam harikatha by Chirra Brahmananda Reddy Bhagavathar in Kalabharati recently.

Elaborating on the root cause of the attitude of ire developed against Lord Siva by his father-in-law Dakshaprajapathi at the yagna he organised, the Bhagavathar captivatingly narrated the events of purposeful conduct of another yaga immediately thereafter by Daksha, barring of invitation to his son-in-law, his daughter Sathi attending it much against the will of her husband Siva, the episode of her self-immolation, the emergence of Veerabhadra from one of locked hairs of Siva, the total destruction of the yagna, followed by the evolvement of the Asthadasapeethams of Devi. Accompanied on violin by K.V.S. Prasad and S. Subrahmanyam on mridangam, the artist reflected glimpses of the legendary singer Ghantasala with an over all fine blend of naada, laya, raga and the sahitya bhavas. Not only that, exhibiting high standards of histrionic talent coupled with empathetic intoning of the prose, poetry and the lyrical part along with abhinaya in dance form as well, he made the observation ace. The art of exposition of harikathaa stands hailed as Sakala Kalaa Samaahaarama absolutely come true.
