In the capital of Pandya kings

S.R.ASHOK KUMAR

It is a dual role that Bharat will play in `Koodal Nagar.'

TEAMING UP AGAIN AFTER `VEYIL': Bhavna and Bharat in Koodal Nagar.

Annamalai Films had blocked three floors of AVM Studio for "Koodal Nagar." On one side there was wire cable covered with wooden pieces, which looked like big rollers and on the other side it looked like a paddy field. Bharat was fighting a handful of thugs. ``It is a different kind of film not only for the lead stars but also for the Tamil film industry. For the first time Bharat is doing a dual role, twins. The Bharat-Bhavna-Sandya trio has given a wonderful performance. It is the story of two women whom I met in real life," offered director Cheenu Ramaswamy, who has written the story, screenplay and dialogue.

"It is exciting to do two roles," remarked Bharat as the director got into a discussion with the cinematographer, M.S.Prabhu.

``The names are Sooriyan and Chandran and the characters are as different. The director has done his home work in a meticulous way," he said. Both Bhavna and `Kadhal' Sandya, deeply engrossed in conversation, expressed happiness about the film.

Song sequence

The song composed by Sabesh and Murali came wafting in the air and the director called Bharat and Bhavna for the shot. It was cranked after the art director, Vijay Murugan, asked his assistant to re-arrange certain set properties. Is Madurai the place of action, because the title bears its literary name? Shooting was held at various places in Madurai, Thiruparankundram, Dindugal, and in AVM in Chennai, came the reply. Mahadevan and Ilavarasu have significant roles to play in the film, which is a mixture of romance and action.
