All in the family
Two playlets Album and Attention, both scripted and directed by Bharatula Ramakrishna, were staged at the Kalabharati Auditorium last week.
The playwright in Album highlights aspects about bringing up children, healthy up-keep of family traditions and zeal to go on improving its image. He accomplishes everything required for a good drama with just six characters, the family head Raghupathi, wife Saraswathi, their progeny Vinay and Vivek first as youngsters and later as grown-ups. Ramakrishna along with S. Manibala, Masters B. Prasanth and M.V.V.S. Murthy, Srinivasa Sarma and B. Kamalakar donned the roles in that order. The second play Attention again with the same actors as a group of family in addition to Satish and Radhakrishna in other roles was rather a confused effort focusing on the need to understand and preserve our traditions. But with the excellent show of histrionic talent on one hand and aesthetic stage decoration, lighting, make-up and music by Sudhakar along with Satish, Kumar, M.Ch. Veeraswamy and Sambasiva Rao respectively on the other, it sustained audience interest from the word go.
