Marouee Moves

Priyan's comic thriller

Actress Shobhana won the national award for the Malayalam hit film Manichithra Thazhu in 1993. The film was remade much later in Kannada (starring Soundarya) and in Tamil (Chandramukhi featuring Jothika) and went on to become big hits in both languages. Now, film-maker Priyadarshan will remake the movie in Hindi as Bhool Bhulaiya with Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Amisha Patel. The film will be set in Jaipur and Priyan plans to retain the mix of comedy and thriller as in the original.

In love with Dhoni

Actress Rimmi Sen is in love with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, at least on screen. The promos of her new film, Hat Trick, show her screaming out aloud, `I love Dhoni.' In the film that also stars Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, Danny Denzongpa and Kunal Kapoor, Rimmi plasters the walls of her house with life-size pictures of Dhoni and wears T-Shirts that send out a clear message: I love Dhoni!

Indian connection

Manoj Night Shyamalan's next movie, The Happening, will have an Indian connection. The film, being produced with a budget of US $ 57 million, will be a joint venture by UTV Motion Pictures and 20th Century Fox. Shyamalan stated, " The Happening is a bigbudget studio film focusing on Earth Vs. Man issues and portrays the environment as a victim of mankind's villainy." The shooting is taking place on the East Coast of America and in Philadelphia - Night's hometown.

Mallika `Unveiled'

Mallika Sherawat is over the moon, after being signed for the Hollywood film Unveiled, to be directed by Bill Bannerman. Bill reportedly stated: "I was impressed by Mallika's acting prowess in Murder and knew by instinct that she will be able to do justice to the role." Unveiled is a film about a Muslim woman who has two husbands and a lover. It is a twisted film noir/sexy thriller/dark drama. Well, does that explain Bill's choice of Mallika over Aishwarya Rai? Mallika says, "My character goes from an ultra-traditional Muslim environment to an ultra-liberal Western one. This is a script I could never say no to."
