Of different shades

S.R.ASHOK KUMAR

Not only the title even the story, you are told, is different in this film.

UNUSUAL RENDEZVOUS: Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar.

MGR Film City is not the favourite haunt of filmmakers, the sets seldom used for shooting. Thus one was surprised that Friends Cinema Private Limited had chosen the spot for their second venture, after `Kokki,' `Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar.'

Director Moorthy, who was in the midst of shooting a scene with the lead pair Karan and new find Meenakshi, said the title, which is different, reflects the story. "The shoot is the patch work of what we had shot in Madurai. It is a love film with out any love scenes," he added. The shooting was held for nearly 52 days and the film is in the finishing stages.

The place was full of two wheelers. The hero and the heroine were sitting on a two-wheeler and chatting. Cameraman J. Sridhar was adjusting the lights for the shot. Director Moorthy has worked with some well-known names in the industry such as directors Sasi, S.S.Stanly, Ezhil and Simbudevan.

Karan had his right hand in a sling, aftermath of a joint dislocation when he was shooting an action sequence composed by Anal Arasu.

"This film will be another wonderful one for me. I act as Karuppusamy, who gets the lease contract of the two wheelers stand near the Madurai Arappalayam bus stand. At night he turns an actor performing roles in koothu. The narration with its twists and turns is very interesting," he said.

Memorable character

Sakthi Kumar who did the police officer's role in `Kokki' appears as Nallathambi, a memorable character with negative shades.

The new find heroine Meenakshi, called Rasathi in the film, acts as a first year medical student.

What would be the highlights? Both the comedy by Vadivelu and the songs composed by Dhina, comes the reply.

The film is produced by Sethu, Vinith Gogia, R. Balasubramanian and co-produced by Dheeraj Kher. Murthy handles the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction.
