In the five-day festival jointly organised by Nada Sudha Tarangini Trust of Visakhapatnam and Swarajhari of Vijayawada, the audience were witness to lively programmes on the last two days. Sangeeta Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishna Murthy's statement that the trust was going to erect a statue of Annamacharya in the temple complex of Sri Sivarama Krishna Kshetram was received with encouraging support from the crowd. The fourth day's programme started with a neat vocal concert by Malladi Nagalakshmi, an upcoming artiste blessed with a fine voice. Nagalakshmi sang keeratanas in ragas Pantuvarali, Kuntalavarali and Kambhoji.
Nagalakshmi's concert was followed by a competent vocal duet by Malladi Suribabu and his brother Narayana Sarma. The duo began with a crisp varnam in Sriragam and followed it with Sri Sankara Guruvaram in Nagaswaravali, Siva Siva Siva Yanarada in Pantuvarali, Anyayamu Seyakura in Kafi and as the main item, Budhi radu of Thyagaraja in Sankarabharanam. Girija Suryam's commentary was interesting, informative and lively. The fitting end to the festival was a melodious vocal concert by Smita Madhav of Hyderabad. A prodigious child movie artiste, Smita played the role of Sita in the movie Balaramayanam produced by M.S. Reddy a few years ago, and has now matured into an able singer of classical music with considerable merit. Smita Madhav made a fine start with Ninne Bhajana Seyu Vadanu in Nata and followed it with Teliyaleru Rama in Dhenuka and Marivere of Syamasastri in Anandabhairavi. The major items Bhajanaseyarada in Dharmavathi and Swararaga Sudha Rasa in Sankarabharanam. Smita excellent sense of sruti and laya and rendered the keertanas in traditionally pure style.
