The cultural association of city-based Tamilians, Tamil Kalai Mandram, honoured Isaikavi Ramanan at a function where five of his books Imayam (Himalayas), Agathiyar Andhaadhi (100 quatrains on Maharshi Agasthya), Manonmani Maalai (Goddess of yoga), Ellorkkum Tanthai (Father of all) and Pillai Pulambal (Lament of a child) were released.
Brahmachari Sri Srinivasa Chaitanya of Chinmaya Mission (Madurai), who was in the chair, hailed the works of Ramanan as top quality poetry and prose replete with flashes of yogic experiences and exciting inputs on inner yoga.
One of the guests of honour, Dr. R. Raghavendran, speaking on Agathiyar Andhaadhi, elaborated how it illustrates continuous evolution and involution of creation. President of the mandram, R. Sampath, spoke on Pillai Pulambal.
The programme commenced with an invocation rendered by Parvathi. While the stage artiste of the mandram, A. Manoharan welcomed the gathering, secretary Divakar eruditely introduced the works of Ramanan. Priya Ramkumar poetically compered the programme.
`Pibare Raamarasam'
Among scores of functions that marked Sri Rama Navami celebrations, Pibare Raamarasam comprised a revealing discourse on Ramayana by Brahmasri Maddulapalli Dattatreya Sastry and rendering of compositions of Bhadrachala Ramadass interspersed with a few of Annamayya remained the highlight. A team of vocalists led by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishnamurty who eruditely set the lyrics to music, rendered the compositions. Organised jointly by Naadasudha Tarangini and Visakha Music Academy at Kalabharati, it concluded on a devout note with Sitaramakalyanam.
Similarly, vocal recitals by Pantula Rama in the company of her husband M. Srinivasa Narasimha Murty on violin and V.V. Ramanamurty on mridangam, Manda Sudharani along with Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao and Kesanupalli Gnananandam on mridangam marked the Sri Rama Navami celebrations.
