Specials for Tamil New Year
Meet Vikram on Jaya TV, on Saturday.
Doordarshan Chennai is telecasting special programmes for the New Year. The day's programme begins with Mangala Isai and at 7 a.m. a Kaviarangam, `Chithiraiyil Enna Varum,' will be telecast. In `Isai Vinnavargal,' songs of S.G.Kittappa, T.R.Mahalingam and Viswanatha Dass sung by M.S.Sathyam and Party, Madurai, will be aired at 12.05 p.m. A special pattimandram, `Indraiya Ilakkiyangal Padiththu Magizhavaa! Payanudan Vaazhavaa!' with moderator Aru. Nagappan, will be telecast at 3 p.m. At 9 p.m., another pattimandram on B.R. Ambedkar, with Ira. Mohan, professor, Madurai Kamaraj University, as moderator will be telecast. A special BSNL Sports Quiz will be aired at 10.10 p.m.
On Vijay TV, Tamil New Year's day begins on a spiritual note, with `Kandha Sashti Kavasam' at 5 a.m. This will be followed by `Mangala Isai' at 5:30, and `Thamizh Isai' at 6 a.m. `Samarpanam,' featuring Shobha Chadrasekar will be telecast at 6.30 a.m.
A poetic session, `Vairamuthuvin Kaviarangam' will be aired at 7 a.m. Tune in to `Leyoni Sirappu Patti Mandram' a little later. Join Anu Hassan at 9 a.m., on a special episode of `Koffee with Anu,' where she chats with the hot couple of `Mayakkannadi' — actor-director Cheran and Navya Nair.
`Vivekungo-Kalakkungo' at 10 a.m. and `Hutch Kalakka Povathu Yaaru 3' at 10.30 will follow. Vivek comes to the viewers' drawing rooms, at 12.30 p.m., disguised as Valluvar. Celebrate the spirit of womanhood with the programme on Women Achievers' Award at 7 p.m.
Jaya TV brings to its viewers a special, `Tamizhum, Samayamum' at 6 a.m. in which vidwans will present verses from the Prabandham, Thevaram, Tiruppugazh, Tirumandiram, Tiruvarutpa and so on. The programme will continue for eight days, 6 a.m., daily.
A special episode of Jackpot on April 15, 8 p.m. features two teams of super models and child news readers, all below 10 years of age. Don't miss `Vikram' in which actor Vikram shares his experiences in his career and personal life.
