Dikshitar akhandam



HOMAGE: Neyveli Santhanagopalan.

As homage to Muthuswamy Dikshitar, a day-long `Akhandam' was organised by Bharatiya Sangeeta Vaibhavam when a number of renowned artists presented many Dikshitar kritis.

The function got off to a start with a moving speech by octogenarian S. Rajam. N. Murali, President of Music Academy, dwelt briefly on the birth and greatness of Dikshitar.

The music session started off with Neyveli Santhanagopalan beautifully unfolding the first kriti composed by Dikshitar,

Sri Nathadi Guruguho Jayati. Rama Ravi, Seetha Rajan, S.P.Ramh, Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam, Vijay Siva, the Malladi Brothers, K. Gayathri and Dr. R. Ganesh were the others who sang Dikshitar kritis. Radha Bhaskar presented an informative lec-dem.
