On the swing of joy

S.R.ASHOK KUMAR

Watch out for Sherin making a comeback in `Urchagam.'

SMITTEN WITH LOVE: The Urchagam pair.

The foothills of Chinji was alive with action as the Urchagam crew was working in full swing.

Director Ravichandran, whose earlier ventures are "Kannedire Thondrinal" and "Majnu," was engrossed in discussing the camera angle with cinematographer, A.R.Gurudev (from Jeeva's school).

The song tuned by Ranjith Barot wafted in the air.

Dance master Brinda was going through the steps with lead stars Sherin and Nanda. The shot smoothly finished, Ravichandran came over for a chat.

``The film is almost over, he said. It has been delightful working with the producers Mahadevan Ganesh and Usha Venkramani of G.V.Films. What began as a small-budget film took grand proportions once the producers saw the rushes. We have shot some scenes and songs in Bangkok, Puket and Lankavi Islands. Goa, Jodhpur, Puducherry and Chennai were the locations back here."

Vivek and Vayapuri are doing important roles. Dinesh Lamba is introduced as the main villain of the film.

"It is a love story but there are elements to make it offbeat in an absorbing way. The hero and the heroine love each other but there are hurdles. How they cope is the story. There is full scope for all the main artists to prove themselves."

Second innings

Sherin is looking forward to a second innings and believes Urchagam will be a perfect launch. "It has sentiment, comedy and also scenes where I can prove my talent. The director has done a good job and I expect this film to re-launch me.

There are five songs of which three have been shot in Bangkok and Puket.

``Well, the story weighs love marriage against the arranged one. May be you'll find the answers in my film," says Ravichandran before signing off.

B. Lenin handles editing, songs have been written by Vairamuthu, Pa.Vijai, Na.Muthukumar and Kabilan.
