Susarla Santoshi Srividya
An engaging recital of classical dance in the Kuchipudi idiom by young and up-coming artiste Susarla Santoshi Srividya marked the second anniversary of Kosana Cultural Academy organised in Kalabharathi last Friday.
One of the very few diligent disciples of noted Natyacharya, Pasumarthi Seetharamayya, Srividya made it a religious offering by way of getting off to a devout start with Vinayaka Koutham followed by Brahmanjali (Mohana and Kalyani). Then she neatly presented Krishna, Dasavathara and Mandooka sabdams before exhibiting a few episodes from Bhamakalapam along with her guru. Executing all intricacies of the Bhamadaruvu, Bhamane Satyabhamane evocatively, she held a high promise for the future.
Nattuvangam by Seetharamayya and commentary by P. Rajendra Prasad contributed to the grandeur. Vocals by K. Latha and Kumari K. Satyalatha along with harmonium by T. Radhakrishna could be have been better. The effort on mridangam by A. Anantha Rao and flute by J. Venkata Rao however made up for the deficiency. President of the Royal Cultural Academy B.V. Bangaru Raju and MD, Welfare Group of Companies, M. Vijaya Prasad who were guests of honour felicitated guru Seetharamayya on the occasion.
