FUN-FILLED `Singapore Singari' kept the audiences in good humour till the end.
Staging of the humourous play Singapore Singari marked the Tamil New Year Day celebration organised by Tamil Kalai Mandram at Kalabharathi last Saturday. Scripted and directed with acumen by noted writer-dramatist V. Divakar, it was a sarcastic depiction of the way office hours are wasted and almost all male employees, across all age groups present a look of ineffable inertness personified.
The story revolves around three male characters (employees of a private firm). The playwright, in a lighter vein, intertwined it with a female character by way of inducting a woman employee into their midst as if to see whether it changes the situation.
The woman was a good looking lady Singari who was transferred from the main office in Singapore.
Thus, he successfully kept the audiences in good humour by proved showing episodes arising out of salacious thoughts that frivolously cross the minds of the male characters and how cleverly Singari made them realise their folly.
Everybody in the cast, A. Manoharan as Azhwar in particular along with N. Satish and R. Elango as his colleagues, Priya Natesh as Singari, M. Sivaraman as her father, C. Balamurugan, Mahadevan, Priyaram Kumar, Meena Venkatesh and child artiste Dinesh, Vishnu, Gowshini and Madhu portrayed their roles with felicitous charm and a professional touch.
Makeup by Surya Rao, stage dιcor, sound and lighting by Sekhar and music by Gowrisankar contributed to the grandeur.
